Mechuka is a small town located in the West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. The name Men-chu-kha means medicinal water of snow where men is medicine, chu is water and kha is snow though kha also means mouth.

​Mechukha is situated in a forested valley, surrounded by pine trees and thorn bushes. The river Siyom flows in the valley of Mechukha. Mechuka is 180 kilometres northwest of Along and is only 29 kilometres away from Indo-Tibet border.

​Mechuka Valley is home to the people of the Memba, Ramo, Bokar and Libo tribes. The local population is primarily Memba, a Tibeto-Mongoloid Ethnic Group.People of this place are believers of Buddhism, Donyi-Poloism, Christianity and speak Memba, Adi, Hindi and English. Mechuka is known for both its religious and historical significance. The 400-year old Samten Yongcha monastery of Mahayana Buddhist sect is a contemporary of the much-revered Tawang Monastery.

Situated in a valley surrounded by forests, Mechuka is a small town located at around 1829 m in the Mechuka Valley in West Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh. Mechuka is also referred to as Mechuka. Men-chu-ka means medicinal water of snow where Men means Medicine, Chu is Water and Ka is Snow. However, the popular name of Mechuka is Mechuka. Mechuka is located at about 29 km from the Indo-China border and around 500 km from the capital city of Itanagar. Mechuka is one of the most picturesque destinations of Arunachal Pradesh. Mechuka is the largest last town in Arunachal Pradesh and after Mechuka, the McMahon border separates the Indian territory from the Chinese territory.

Mechuka Valley is home to the people of the Memba, Ramo, Libo and Tagin Tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. The local population at Mechuka is primarily of the Memba community. The residents of Mechuka are followers of Buddhism by faith and speak the Memba, Adi, Hindi and English languages.

Sample Itinerary for your visit to Mechuka ~

Day 1 (Dibrugarh to Aalo 270kms) – Receive from Dibrugarh Airport or Dibrugarh train Station & Transfer to Aalo & over night stay at Aalo. Aalo is a beautiful town in West Siang Dist. Of Arunachal Pradesh & habitant of this area is know as Galo Tribe. This small township is surrounded by lots of traditional tribal villages. Amongst all villages Kabu Village is one the cleanest village of West Siang Dist. KOMBO village is very rich in their cultural activities. Darka Village is one of the Largest Village of West Siang Dist.  People of Galo tribe were very peace loving & they love white color. As their traditional dress color is White. There are really lots to know about this tribe like their artifacts & some amazing facts about their fire place. For all this experiences need one more day at Aalo.

Day 2 (Aalo to Mechukha 190kms) – Your day start with a cup of tea or a lite breakfast & 7am is time to get ready for next destination Mechukha. The distance between Aalo & Mechukha is 190kms, so good to start earlier. Once you start from Aalo in next 50kms, There is a small Township known as Kaying which is in Siang Dist. Habitant of this village are ADI tribe. Towards Mechukha in every 10 or 15kms there are some small villages Thumbin , Roying , Bille , Dupu , Row than Pene. Pene is a very small Village & a border between Siang Dist. & Shi-Yomi Dist. From Pene  in next nearly a hour drive you get a very beautiful Waterfall name SIKO-DIDO . It’s good to take a 10mins short break & have some tea or snacks. From Siko-Dido less than a 2hours drive can take you to your final destination Mechukha. Overnight Stay at Mechukha.

Day 3 – After a good sleep try to wake up early in the morning as NorthEast India get it’s Sunrise very early by 5:15am to 5:30am. By 6:30am get ready for the Morning Walk & Try to reach New Gompa(Temple) of Mechukha . Once you start your morning walk you will feel lots of Fresh Air a Complete Carbon Negative Area. After you reach New Gompa wait till 8am to 8:30am there at Gompa View Point & than you will find yourself over the Fog & the Beautiful township is just below. Day 1 of mechukha will start from Dorjeeling Gompa . Than Village Walk . Than Yargaapchu River View. After that visit to Old Gompa. This Old Gompa is one of the Oldest Gompa in Arunachal Pradesh more than 400 years Old. Than next to Guru-Duarah & It’s museum. Than Lunch at Guru Duarah Langar. After Lunch next Tapo-Sthan. Tapo-Sthan is a famous pilgrimage of Mechukha. That will be explain at GURU-Duarah. There is a small WaterFall in Tapo-Sthan, specialty of that Waterfall is round the year temperature of that water is same & in peak winter the waterfall never get freeze. From Tapo-Sthan if You take wooden steps towards river side there is a small stone cave & than Holly Water drops (The Real Meaning of Mechukha). Lastly just next to the river there is a Lucky stone, there are three stones White, Brown & Black. It’s also a myth of Mechukha that, if you wish something & you get white stone than your wish come true. Your mechukha sightseen ends at Lucky Stone. Overnight stay at Mechukha.

Day 4 (Mechukha to Aalo 190kms) – Get up early in the Morning & get ready for the day long journey to Aalo .

Day 5 (Aalo to Dibrugarh 250kms) – After all this beautiful experiences of a small part of Arunachal Pradesh now it’s time to pack your bags & get ready to move towards Plain Lands of Assam Dibrugarh . & over night Stay at Dibrugarh for Flight or same day drop to Train Station .

Day 6 – Drop to airport. Trip Ends.

Day 1 ~ Guwahati – Lakhimpur

Arrive at the Guwahati airport by an early morning flight was your inbound destination. On arrival you will be received by our representative at the airport offering a warm welcome in traditional Assamese style. From the Airport we travel to Lakhimpur in Assam.

Day 2 ~ Lakhimpur – Along

After Breakfast we drive to Along from Lakhimpur. Enjoy the breathtaking natural beauty of Arunachal Pradesh on your way. The journey will take around approx. 7 – 8 hours to reach Along. Arrive at Along.

Day 3 ~ Along – Mechuka

After Breakfast, we do some local sightseeing at Along. Often referred to as the Orange town, Along is a picturesque valley at the confluence of Sipu and Siyom River. Along is inhabited by the Galo tribes of Arunachal Pradesh. Later in the day we travel to Mechuka. The journey will take approx. 5 – 6 hours. Arrive at Mechuka.

Day 4 ~ Mechuka

We spend the day in the Switzerland of North East i.e. Mechuka. Explore the unadulterated natural beauty of Mechuka admiring the wonders of Mother Nature.

Day 8 ~ Kamakhya Temple – Guwahati Airport

Early morning we visit the Holy Kamakhya Temple at Guwahati. After breakfast, we drop you off at Guwahati Airport for your onward destination. Tour ends. Bid Adieu!
